Executive Committee

We are a team of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in astronomy and nuclear astrophysics. Our committee recruits writers, serves as editors, manages the website and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.

Sanjana Curtis

Picture

Postdoctoral fellow, UC Berkeley

I am an NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Astronomy at UC Berkeley. I study the origin of the chemical elements in extreme astrophysical events like core-collapse supernovae and mergers of compact objects (such as neutron stars and black holes). I also write popular science articles and chat about science on Twitter and TikTok.

Postdoctoral Researcher, LLNL

I am an Experimental Nuclear Physicist currently working as a Postdoc at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). I am working on indirect neutron capture cross-section measurements for various applications. Prior to LLNL, I received a PhD from Michigan State University while working at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) on beta-decay experiments for nuclear astrophysics. During grad school, I also served as the graduate students’ representative on the IReNA Steering Committee. I am excited about my current role on the executive committee of the IReNA Blog.

Dominik Koll

Picture

Postdoctoral Researcher, TUD

My name is Dominik Koll and I am working on the detection of long-lived radionuclides from stellar explosions on Earth using accelerator mass spectrometry.
After my studies at the Technical University of Munich and my dual-PhD at the Australian National University and the Dresden University of Technology, I am continuing my work on the measurement of live interstellar 60Fe and 244Pu on Earth.

Artemis Tsantiri

PhD Student, MSU/FRIB

I am a PhD student from Greece working at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University with the SuN group. My research focuses on cross-section measurements for the astrophysical γ process. I also have the privilege of serving as the graduate student representative for IReNA's Young Researchers Organization. Find out more about me at https://atsantiri.github.io

Pely Tsintari

Postdoctoral Researcher, MSU/FRIB

I recently completed my PhD at Central Michigan University, where I developed a novel technique for measuring (p,n) reactions in inverse kinematics relevant to astrophysics. I am now a Postdoc at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University with the SECAR group. Enjoying writing, I am pleased to be part of the IReNA Blog executive committee and look forward to establishing this platform as a space for us all to communicate and share ideas creatively.

Vishnu Varma

Postdoctoral Researcher, Keely University

I’m a Malaysian astrophysicist currently working as a postdoc at Keele University, UK, where I work on the life and death of massive stars. Beyond my research, I am passionate about improving the experiences of early career researchers and am always excited to engage in public outreach.
